About
The California Victory is a USL First Division professional soccer team based in San Francisco, California.
On October 12, 2006, USL President Francisco Marcos announced Dmitry Piterman, a Ukrainian-American
and chairman of Spanish club Deportivo Alavés, had officially acquired a USL First Division franchise beginning in the 2007
season. The Victory was the first European owned team to compete in any level of the United Soccer Leagues.
The club plays at Kezar Stadium, the former home of the Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers.
In July of 2007 Piterman sold his ownership interest of Deportivo Alavés throwing into question the future
of the California Victory. The new ownership of the team is known to be actively looking to sell the team after its
inaugural season in San Francisco.
The California Victory Supporters Association has decided to take an active role to help preserve the
future of the Victory in San Francisco and is attempting to create a fan-based
non-profit corporation to take over ownership of the team.
